Farris Dale Cantrell, son of the late Clifton and Oma (Barnes) Cantrell, was born October 1, 1927 and departed this life September 14, 2010 at his home in Plato, Missouri. He was 82 years, 11 months, and 13 days of age.
Farris grew up in the Plato and Manes communities. He joined the U.S. Army and served his country during WWII. Farris went to work in armaments at Fort Leonard Wood in 1951 and worked in Civil Service until his retirement in 1987.
Farris was an avid Nascar fan and also enjoyed watching bull riding. He enjoyed hauling cattle and hay and loved to Country Western dance at Senior Centers in several surrounding communities. He also enjoyed visiting with his many friends.
Besides his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother: Doyle Dean Cantrell.
Farris is survived by two daughters: Loretta Ann Carlson and her husband, Edward, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Patricia Porter of New Haven, Missouri; one brother: Carl Cantrell and his wife, Willa Mae, of Plato, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Sherry Hood, Dale Carlson, Debbie Jones, Christopher Carlson, Cindi Young, Ricky Farris Porter, and Crystal Porter; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many other friends and relatives who will miss him greatly.
Funeral Services:
Monday, September 20th at 2:00 PM in the Embree Community Church.
Visitation:
Sunday, September 19th, from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM in the funeral home.
