Exie Elmirah Ussery

Exie Elmirah (Fletcher) Ussery, daughter of the late Alva and Emma (Ball) Fletcher, was born on December 8, 1925 in Norwood, Missouri, and passed from this life and went home to be with the Lord on August 2, 2007 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She was 81 years, 7 months, and 25 days of age.
On March 25, 1944 she was united in marriage to Fred Ussery in Kansas City, Kansas where they lived until 1952. This union was blessed with one daughter, Cheryl. Exie served the Lord faithfully throughout her life and attended the Union Grove (Caudle) Church as long as her health permitted.
She enjoyed being outdoors, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Harold Fletcher, Marshall Fletcher, and Ocra Fletcher.
Exie is survived by her loving husband of sixty-three years: Fred Ussery of their home north of Norwood, Missouri; her daughter and son-in-law: Cheryl and Billie Hicks of Norwood, Missouri; two grandchildren: Jerry Hicks and his wife, Laurie, of Norwood, Missouri, and Angela Tate and her husband, Darren, of Hiwasse, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren: Kara, Heather, and Billy Hicks; Richmond and Zayne Tate; five sisters-in-law: Audrey Fletcher of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Betty Fletcher of Raymore, Missouri, Joan Fletcher of Billings, Missouri, Delores Smith of Ozark, Missouri, and Glenda Sheppard.
She leaves behind a host of other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.
Funeral services for Exie Ussery were held Monday, August 6, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. R.E. Helsley and Rev. Zach Williams officiating. Judy and Doug Chadwell sang “What A Friend,” and “What A Day that Will Be.” Pallbearers were jerry Hicks, Darren Tae, Jerry Smith, Allen Fletcher, Gary Fletcher, and Darrell Fletcher. Burial was in the Thomas Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
