Exie Alma (Kelley) Campbell, daughter of the late Hose and Mary (Hurt) Kelley, was born on May 6, 1927 north of Norwood, Missouri in Wright County. She passed away on December 22, 2012 at her home in Norwood, Missouri, following a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was 85 years of age.
Exie grew up in Wright County and attended the Dugan School near Norwood and also Mtn. Grove School. She was united in marriage to Milton Campbell on May 9, 1945 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. Seven children were born to this union.
She worked at the Mtn. Grove Nursing Home and Brown Shoe Company for several years. They made their home in the Oelwein, Iowa area for many years. While living there, Exie worked for Oelwein City Laundry. They later returned to the Norwood area where Milton and Exie owned and operated their own business, Campbell Music.
Exie was a Christian woman who loved the Lord with all her heart. She enjoyed taking care of those around her. She loved to sew and bake, and was especially known for her cinnamon rolls. She also enjoyed cooking and sewing for others. She always made sure that those around her had plenty to eat. She loved serving others who had a need. She also liked helping her husband with music and the business.
Exie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Rex Kelley and Ferda Kelley; and by one great-grandchild: Brandon Kane.
She is survived by three sons: Jim Campbell and his wife, Jeanie, of Mtn. Grove, Terry Campbell and his wife, Kim, of Warren, Ohio, and Danny Campbell of Norwood, Missouri; four daughters: Judy Kane and her husband, Terry, of Fairbank, Iowa, Janet Fitz, and her husband, Ron, of Cortland, Ohio, Cheri Yurtin and her husband, John, of Clayton, North Carolina, and Debbie Klinger of Waterloo, Iowa; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and their spouses: Erma and Duane Forest of Norwood, Missouri, and Maxine and Everett Whited of Woodlake, California; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives, friends and neighbors.
