Evelyn Orlena Baney, daughter of the late Elmer and Minnie (Tate) Holt, was born on June 27, 1939 in Douglas County, Missouri, and departed this life on Monday, June 28, 2010 in the Village Care Center in Lees Summit, Missouri, following a long illness at 71 years of age.
She grew up and attended school in Douglas County and was united in marriage to Willard O. Baney on July 9, 1963 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. One daughter was born to this union. They moved to Iowa in 1966 where she was an award winning saleswoman for the Avon Company. At this time, Willard worked as a mill operator for the Linwood Stone Company. Mr. Baney passed away in 1986.
Evelyn moved back to the Mtn. Grove area where she worked in the deli at the Town & Country Supermarket. She later moved to Independence, Missouri in 1995. She was baptized into the Church of Christ in 1987.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Ivan Holt.
She is survived by her daughter: Teresa Wooddy and her husband, Bob, of Leesburg, Florida; five brothers and their wives: Raymond and Joyce Holt of Mtn. Grove, Vernon and Lanea Holt of Mackie, Idaho, Dyane Holt of Arco, Idaho, Wayne Holt of the state of Arkansas, and Lonnie and Charolette Holt of Mtn. Grove; three sisters and their husbands: Velma and Lyle Harrison of Mtn. Grove, Leona and Melvin Sanders of Wichita, Kansas, and Thelma and Von Kincheloe of Independence, Missouri; several nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Thursday, July 1, 2010 at 2:00 PM in the Hillcrest Cemetery.
Visitation:
Thursday, July 1, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the funeral home prior to service.
