Evelyn Lee Tyrrell, daughter of the late Virgil Leonard Crisp and Cora Mae (Zirschky) Crisp, departed this life on November 17, 2013, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 80 years, one month, and five days. Evelyn was born on October 12, 1933, in Manes, Mo. the second of three daughters. She is survived by her sisters, Ruby Pauline Mason and husband Fred of Shreveport, La., and Barbara Jean Mabe of Waynesville, Mo. Evelyn grew up in the Manes area as a child before her parents moved their family to Mountain Grove.
Evelyn was married to Alvin Junior Tyrrell on November 28, 1951, in Hardy, Ark. To this union were born three sons, Larry Alvin Tyrrell, Gary Junior Tyrrell, and Terry Lee Tyrrell. They lived for a short time in Wichita, Kansas and Yakima, Washington, before making their home on a farm at Ben Davis, Mo. They moved the family to a farm East of Mountain Grove in Texas County establishing a dairy farm which was operated with the help of their sons for 30 years. Besides being a homemaker, wonderful mother and grandmother, Evelyn worked for many years at Brown Shoe factory in Mountain Grove.
Evelyn was a gentle spirit and loved her family. Her family was the center of her world which she fiercely defended and protected. One of the greatest losses of her life was her grandson Jimmie Junior Tyrrell who preceded her in death after a long illness. She loved the farm, working with cattle, sewing, and gardening. She especially loved growing flowers of all kinds. Evelyn accepted the Lord as her savior and was baptized near Ben Davis in her youth.
