Evelyn C. Hayles

February 17, 1922 — January 23, 2009

Evelyn C. Hayles, daughter of the late Charles Francis and Mary Magdalene (Grenier) Crippen, was born on February 17, 1922 in Humboldt, South Dakota, and passed away on January 23, 2009 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 86 years, 11 months and 6 days of age.
Evelyn grew up in South Dakota and was united in marriage to Lewis Edwin Hayles on June 26, 1943 in Canoga Park, California. Three daughters were born to this union. They raised their family in California and Mr. Hayles passed away in 2006.
Following her retirement, Evelyn moved to the Mtn. Grove area in 1989.
She enjoyed traveling, dancing, fishing, gardening, quilting, sewing and doing European embroidery work.
Evelyn was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church near Mtn. Grove.
Besides her parents and Mr. Hayles, she was preceded in death by one brother: Charles Crippen of Utah and by one sister: Doris Scheiderich of California.
She is survived by her three daughter and their spouses: Mary and Mike Lee of Mtn. Grove, Mona and Burt Kanner of Salem, Oregon, and Margie Hayles and Evan Lewis, of Fontana, California; one sister: Loris Rose of Woodland Hills, California; five grandchildren: Misty Lee, Mindy Comeaux, Dakota Kanner, Clayton Hayles, and Amanda Lewis;three step-grandsons: Brian Kanner and his wife, Pilar, of Tujunja, California, Mike KAnner and his wife, Kim, of Astin, Texas, and Dan Kanner of San Francisco, California; one step-great-granddaughter: Nicole Kanner; one great-grandson: Gregory Comeaux; and other relatives and friends.

Burial and memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
