Evalyn M. Gragg, daughter of the late Carl and Blanche (Greenlee) Hutsell, was born on September 15, 1932 in Huggins, Missouri, and went to be with the Lord on August 27, 2012 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. She was 79 years, 11 months and 12 days of age.
Evalyn grew up in Huggins and attended the one-room school of Ballard close to where she lived. She later attended Houston High School.
Evalyn was saved and baptized at an early age and joined the Number One Free Will Baptist Church in Huggins. She attended there until after high school and then moved to Kansas City, Missouri. While living there, she worked as an elevator operator and was later employed by W.E. Isles as a knitting machine operator.
She met and married her husband, Billy G. Gragg in Kansas City. Five children were born to this union.
Evalyn was an avid reader and enjoyed working all kinds of puzzles. She also enjoyed music and playing her guitar. She liked being outdoors and enjoying nature. She would often take walks with her grandkids, naming every tree and weed. She also had a large rock collection.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Billy G. Gragg; one daughter: Frances Louise Stephens; two brothers: Ervin Hutsell and Elvis Hutsell; and by one sister: Ermal Means.
She is survived by four children: Billy S. Gragg of the home, Ivonne Martin and her husband, Lewis, of Sedalia, Missouri, Glenda Akers and Carl Lee Gragg, both of Huggins, Missouri; two brothers: Emmitt Hutsell and his wife, Bertha, of Huggins, Missouri, Ernest Hutsell and his wife, Bonnie, of Elgin, Oregon; one sister: Esther Richardson and her husband, Carl, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
