Eunice Luvetta Mitchell, daughter of the late Ransom and Rosa ( Spencer) Mings, was born on January 29, 1926 in Wright County, Missouri and passed away on January 10, 2009 in the Golden Living Center in Wichita, Kansas, following a short illness. She was 82 years, 11 months and 12 days of age.
Eunice grew up and attended school in Wright County. She was united in marriage to Ivan Richard Mitchell in 1942. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in Wichita for many years. Mr. Mitchell passed away on July 3, 1984. At the time of her passing, Eunice was living in Burrton, Kansas.
Eunice was a true homemaker; loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother sister and friend. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and taking care of her family. Family and friends were very important to her and she will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Mackel Lee Mitchell; three brothers: Allen Mings, Gene Mings, and Clyde Mings; and by one sister: Ida Mitchell.
She is survived by two daughters: Patsy Fundenberger of Wichita, Kansas and Rosemary “Gale” Cowan of Burrton, Kansas; her daughter-in-law: Alice Mitchell of Park City, Kansas; one brother: Francis Mings of Mtn. Grove; four sisters: Ernestine Hutsell of Houston, Missouri, Maxine Banblet of Pone to, Indiana, and Roselea Risinhoover of the State of Arkansas and Rachel Sullens of Camdenton, Missouri; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of other relative and friends.
Funeral services for Eunice Mitchell will be held on Friday, January 16, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Ronald Turner officiating. Song selections will be “Old Rugged Cross,” and “To Where You Are.” Pallbearers will be Shane McKee, Travis Cowan, Jim Cowan, Tim Mitchell, and Beau Stringos. Burial will be in the Green Mountain Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
