Eulala Marie Cooke, daughter of the late Raymond and Geneva (Brooks) Hutcheson, was born on September 7, 1941 in Walter, Oklahoma, and passed away on December 28, 2012 at her home near Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 71 years of age.
Eulala grew up and attended school in Walters, Oklahoma and graduated from Walters High School in 1959. She went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Cameron College in 1961. She worked as a civil service employee at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Ray Roberts Lake, and FEMA in Denton, Texas.
Eulala was united in marriage to Henry D. Cooke on September 18, 1964 at the First Assembly Of God Church in Lawton, Oklahoma. Two daughters were born to this union. They were married for forty-eight years.
Eulala was a dedicated wife and loving mother. She believed that love was the most important thing in life. She wanted to share her love for Jesus Christ with others. She enjoyed witnessing and leading people to the Lord and praying for those around her.
Following her retirement from FEMA, Eulala felt a great calling to help the homeless in her community of Denton, Texas. This led to another big focus of her life, serving the needy with several organizations, mainly with The Salvation Army. She helped to get a women’s and children’s shelter and worked as a secretary for The Salvation Army in Denton. She later worked for The Salvation Army in Lewisville, Texas as an Office Manager until her final retirement in 2006.
Eulala was an ordained minister in the Anchor Bay Evangelical Church and loved officiating at weddings, but she wanted more than anything to be part of the Bride of Christ.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: David Hutcheson.
Eulala is lovingly remembered by her husband: Henry Cooke of their home; her two daughters: Karlena Adkisson and her husband, Danny, of Mtn. Grove, and Karen Kouassi and her husband, Theo, of Silver Springs, Maryland; five grandchildren: Sharmyla Adkisson of Springfield, Missouri, Brannan Adkisson of North Carolina, David Adkisson of Mtn. Grove, Jacob Philpott of Austin, Texas, and Lucas Philpott of Denton, Texas; one brother: Thalmer Hutcheson and his wife, Jeannie, of Lawton, Oklahoma; two sisters: Seleta Mae Hutcheson of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Naomi Cabug-os and her husband, Ricky, of Dallas, Texas; and other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.
We know and abide in the peace that she rests in God’s loving care now.
