Eugene “Gene” Gallion, son of Virgil Gallion and Mae (Kleier) Gallion was born July 29, 1931, in Seymour, Missouri, and departed this life December 22, 2023, at his home in Seymour, Missouri, at the age of 92 years, 4 months, and 23 days.
On October 25, 1952, he was united in marriage to Lillian “Dee” Cole, and to this union 2 children were born.
Dee preceded him in death on April 26, 2015, after 62 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jesse Gallion and James Gallion; sisters, Sue Sampson and Kathy Garfit.
Gene is survived by his daughter, Jeannie Calfas and husband, Monte, of Seymour, Missouri; son, Randy Gallion and wife, Marilyn, of Marshfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Eric Gallion and wife, Shelly, of Mansfield, Missouri, Stacey O’Reilly and husband, Brian, of Belton, Missouri, Tim Hankins and wife, Amanda, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Jason Hankins of St. Louis, Missouri; great-grandchildren, McKyna New and husband, Cody, Kylee Rich and husband, Draven , Jaxon Johnson, Easton O’Reilly, Preslee O’Reilly, Justin Gallion, Jacob Gallion, Aundria Hankins, Landon Hankins, Marshall Henderson, and Mason Grace; great-great-grandson, Colton New; brothers, Richard Gallion and Henry Gallion; sisters, Alice Ragsdale, Linda Owens, Elsie Smith, and Carol Gardner; many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Gene was born, raised and lived his entire life in Seymour. He graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1952. After graduating, he served his country faithfully in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He hauled milk for the Carnation Plant in Seymour for several years and then worked at Sugar Creek Creamery in Mansfield. He then went to work at General Electric in Springfield for 20 years, retiring in 1994.
Gene made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member and longtime deacon at the Antioch Baptist Church.
In his spare time, he read his Bible and was an excellent gardener.
We celebrate his long life and have many wonderful memories that we will always cherish.
