Eugene Monroe Anderson, son of the late Holman Elwell and Lela Omega (Pendergraff) Anderson, was born February 19, 1930, in Eldorado, Kansas, and passed away November 12, 2019, at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 89 years, 9 months, and 10 days of age.
Eugene’s father was a career military man, so their family lived in several places as he grew up. Eugene enlisted in the United States Army National Guard and served from 1948 to 1950.
Eugene milked cows for a few years and then sold the farm and moved to Springfield, Missouri to work in construction. He also lived in Kansas City, working in construction, and spent some time in Chicago as well.
He married Anna Jean Stevens in 1983. They lived in various places before her death in 1986. He and his sister, Dorothy, moved back to Mountain Grove in 2014.
Eugene enjoyed serving his church as a counselor to teenage boys. He also was a good artist and especially enjoyed doing pencil drawings. He had a special dog, Baby, whom he loved very much.
Besides his parents, Eugene was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and James Earl Anderson, three sisters, infant Barbara Joan, Charlotte Ann, and Thelma Louise Anderson.
He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Elizabeth Williams of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and a nephew, Michael Lynn Williams of Doniphan, Missouri.
