Ervin Lee Yeager, son of the late Oscar and Nola (Ferriel) Yeager, was born on November 26, 1918 in Hartville, Missouri, and passed away on March 6, 2008 in the Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 89 years, 3 months, and 9 days of age.
Ervin moved with his family to Idaho as a young boy and moved back to the Hartville area in 1928. He attended the Cook Creek School. On August 29, 1969, he was united in marriage to Jessie Oxley in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area for several years. Jessie passed away on May 2, 2004.
Ervin was employed as a foreman for Brown Shoe Company for several years. Over the years, he also owned and operated a service station, café, and a vending route that he retired from in 1984.
He enjoyed being outdoors tending to his garden and going to music festivals and church events. He was a long time member of the Southside Baptist Church where he made many friends and looked forward to attending services as long as his health permitted.
Besides his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one brother: Elvin; and by one sister: Genieva.
He is survived by one step-son: Kenneth Koontz and his wife, Brenda, of Mtn. Grove; two step-daughters: Bonnie Williams and her husband, Rick, of Forsyth, Missouri, and Janet Blythe and her husband, Tom, of Fairfield, California; a brother-in-law: Doil Clark and his wife, Doris, of Mtn. Grove; a sister-in-law: Essie Robson, of Mtn. Grove; two nephews: Bob Yeager of Springfield, Missouri and Junior Yeager of Branson, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, friends, and church family that will miss him very much.
Funeral services for Ervin Yeager were held Monday, March 10, 2008, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Keith Adamson and Rev. Roger Flint officiating. Iby and Ruth Edwards and John & Shirley Shores sang “Sweet Beulah Land,” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Pallbearers were Randy Williams, Rusty Williams, Robby Williams, Rolland Williams, Roger Williams, Terry Whorton and Randy Gaddis. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
