Elva Lucile Gayman, daughter of the late Joseph and Grace Vera (Anderson) Evans, was born September 29, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, and departed this life February 1, 2021, at Birch Pointe Health and Rehab Center in Springfield, Missouri. She was 92 years, 4 months, and 3 days of age.

Lucile was raised in Cheyenne, Wyoming. On May 2, 1949, she married Charles Gayman in Gering, Nebraska. They share cropped for several years before buying a farm in Hawk Springs, Wyoming, where they farmed and raised their daughters.

After retiring in 1981, they moved to Torrington, Wyoming. During their retirement Lucile enjoyed gardening, camping, and frequent trips to Missouri to visit with the grandchildren. She loved to have family gatherings on their farm in Hawk Springs as well in their new home in Torrington. Lucile’s greatest passion was cooking meals for family and friends and she was well known for her famous homemade pies throughout Goshen County. Lucile loved to garden, always planting flower and vegetable gardens.

She also cherished attending church with family and attending Bible study. One of Lucile’s greatest joys was sitting on her front porch on the Barker farm enjoying nature and welcoming family and guests to her home. She will be missed by all.

Besides her parents, Lucile was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Gayman and her daughter, Sharon (Gayman) Upshaw.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family, which include the following: daughter, Shirley (Gayman) Squitiero and husband, Rich, son-in-law, Robert Upshaw, four granddaughters, Loretta Upshaw, Deborah (Upshaw) Barker and husband, Tom, Elva Upshaw, and Melanie Upshaw, one grandson, Michael Upshaw, four great-grandsons, Kyle and Caleb Barker, Christopher Upshaw, and Jonah Clenney, and a host of extended family and friends.
