Eldon Milton Merrill, son of the late John Wesley Merrill and Leota Marie (Price) Merrill, was born on August 25, 1925 in Roex Creek, Kansas in Butler County and left this life and entered into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Country View Nursing Facility in Bowling Green, Missouri, at 90 years of age.
Eldon was a WWII veteran who served in the Pacific, and he was a member of American Legion Post 0349 in Clarksville, Missouri. He also loved to garden. Before retirement, he worked at IGA in Bowling Green, Missouri as well as Goodwins Grocery in Ladonia, Missouri. He was very active in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Bowling Green, Missouri. He also loved to be part of a group of individuals from his church that went to the nursing homes in that town singing their favorite hymns. Eldon was known for playing his harmonica.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lenora Faye Merrill and a granddaughter, Victory Mullen.
Eldon was the loving father of John Mark Merrill of South Daytona, Florida and Linda Sue Allison of Orlando, Florida.
He was also the loving grandfather of six grandchildren: James Allison, Jennifer Mellen, Brian Woods, Timothy Merrill, Jessica Merrill, and Erica Merrill.
He is survived by numerous great-grandchildren: Zachery Allison, Ainsley Allison, Aeris Meadows, Guinevere Meadows, Rowan Meadows, Griffin Meadows, Rhiannon Mellen, and the children of Brian Woods, Timothy Merrill and Jessica Merrill; several cousins: Ann Belt and her husband David, Pat Elliott, David Elliott and his wife Kyla, Aleta Harris and her husband, Jerry, Dayna Harbin and her husband, Greg, John Reece, Bill Reece and his wife, Kathy, and Steve Reece and his wife, Cindy; numerous friends, church family, and a host of other relatives who will truly miss him.
Visitation: Wednesday, March 16, 2016 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at Immanuel Baptist Church, Bowling Green, Missouri
Graveside Service: Thursday, March 17, 2016 at 2 pm at Vanzant Cemetery, Vanzant, Missouri
Burial: Vanzant Cemetery, Vanzant Missouri
