Edward “Ed” William Young, son of Eugene “Gene” Walker Young and the late Zelma Aileen (Booker) Young, was born March 6, 1942, in Cabool, Missouri, and passed away at his home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, May 24, 2019. He was 77 years, 2 months, and 18 days of age.
Ed grew up in Mountain Grove and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1960. He married Linda Coatney on February 11, 1961, in Mountain Grove. One son, Kris, was born to this union.
Ed worked with and sold marine products for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed golfing and motorcycling. He and Linda traveled from California to the East Coast on several motorcycle trips over the years. He also enjoyed sitting with friends while having coffee together at McDonalds, sitting on his deck watching the purple martins, and spending time with the cats. He loved animals, especially cats. He and Linda rescued many over the years, making sure they had their shots and having them spayed or neutered. One of his favorite things was getting to enjoy Linda’s chocolate chip cookies or chocolate cake.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Zelma Young.
He is survived by his loving wife of their home, Linda, his son , Kris Young and his wife, Letitia, of Springfield, Missouri, his father, Gene Young of Mountain Grove, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many friends who will miss him.
