Edna May Houtchens, daughter of the late Nick and Leona (Renfro) Hunsperger, was born on October 6, 1921 in Koshkonong, Missouri, and departed this life on June 18, 2009 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri at 87 years of age.
Edna grew up and attended school in Koshkonong. She was united in marriage to Walter Garmen and he passed away in 1965. She was later married to Kenneth Houtchens and he also preceded her in death in 1984.
Edna enjoyed playing card and board games. She also liked to be outdoors, especially when gardening and fishing.
Besides her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by one son: Donald Garmen; one daughter: Lurene Wooten; three brothers: Oscar, Harold and Charles; and by one sister.
She is survived by five grandchildren: Dena Marsh and Julie Barnes, both of Norwood, Missouri, David Barnes of San Andreas, California, JaNell Harris of Angels Camp, California, and Tina Garmen of San Bruno, California; nine great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.
