E. Ray Blacketer

July 13, 1943 — March 6, 2016

Ray Blacketer, son of the late Hollis and Helen (Durham) Blacketer, was born on July 13, 1943, in Bolivar, Missouri, and passed away on March 6, 2016, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was 72 years, 8 months, and 6 days of age.
Ray was raised in Mountain Grove by his mother and step-father, Lenn McCune, whom he lovingly called Pop. Ray served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963 and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged from the reserves in 1966.
Ray had many skills and talents and was especially gifted in cabinetry and carpentry. He enjoyed playing pool and won several tournaments through the years. Ray also loved to visit with his family and many friends. Ray enjoyed working in the hay field with his good friend, Rick, and enjoyed drinking coffee with his friend, Jerry. He spent many hours with his sweetheart, Patsy Hamilton, going places and enjoying life.
Ray was preceded in death by his father: Hollis Blacketer; his Pop: Lenn McCune; his mother: Helen McCune; a daughter: Debra Blacketer; an infant son: Eldon Ray Blacketer, Jr.; and a sister: Linda (McCune) Hulme.
He is survived by his two daughters: Dawn Maree of North Carolina, and Raelene of St. Louis, Missouri; one granddaughter: Jamie; seven great-grandchildren; one sister: Virginia (Blacketer) Mabe of Mountain Grove; two brothers: Gary McCune and his wife, Rayme, of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Frankie McCune and his wife, Doris, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; his sweetheart: Patsy Hamilton of Mountain Grove, Missouri; and many friends and relatives who will miss him very much.


Memorial Service: Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 10:30 AM at Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church.
