Doyne Lester Emery, son of the late Everette Lester and Clora (Smith) Emery, was born on March 2, 1926 in Pitcher, Oklahoma, and departed this life on September 28, 2014 in the Kabul Nursing Home, Cabool, Missouri. He was 88 years of age.
In 1950, Doyne was united in marriage to Maxine McCulley. Two sons were born to this union.
Doyne was a truck driver for 40 years, after leaving the Army in 1946. After retiring from driving, he launched a new career in house painting.
Doynes nickname was Bird dog as he was known as one of the best quail hunters around. He later became a deer hunter so he could spend more time with his sons and friends. There were lots of hunting expedition stories told over the years.
Doyne loved his family sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He made sure they had the best life possible.
His heart was made of gold and he had a great love for Jesus Christ.
Besides his parents, Doyne was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine; and two sisters: Vera Middleton and Dorothy Mae Emery.
Doyne is survived by his two sons: Garry Emery and his wife, Sheryl, of West Plains, Missouri, and Randall Emery and his wife, Geraldine, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; one sister: Shirley Melton of Cedar Hill, Missouri; five grandchildren: Amy Patillo, Brett Emery, Jared Emery, Kim Martin, and Richard McGownd; four great-grandchildren: Boston Patillo, Adeline Patillo, Eleanor Martin, and Caroline Martin; and a host of other family, neighbors, and friends who will miss him very much.
Visitation: Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery, Mountain Grove, Missouri.
Memorial Contributions: Wounded Warriors in c/o the funeral home.
