Douglas Wayne Walker

Douglas Wayne Walker, son of Melvin Douglas Walker and Gracie Lee (Jones) Walker, was born February 3, 1975, in Turlock, California, and departed this life August 4, 2023, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 48 years, 6 months, and 1 day surrounded by his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, R.D. and Ruby Jones and Frank and Evelyn Walker, aunts, Linda Jones Pollett and Liz Jones, and cousin, Barbara Sanderson Cole.

Doug is survived by two sisters, Michelle Smith (Shannon Matney) of Macomb, and Annetta Long of Mansfield; niece, Courtney Henry (Dustin Cotton); great nieces, Carlie and Aria; great nephews, Jensen and Alec; many uncles, aunts, and cousins; special relatives and friends, Johnnie Jones, Michael Jones, Trey Jones, Greg Henry, Matt Coffman and Tommy Slate; and his beloved dog, “Lucy Lou”.

He was born in California and moved to Missouri with his family in 1981. He began milking cows for Billy Clouse when he was 12 years old and worked for him for almost 15 years. He then began his career as an Assistant Superintendent and line locator for Jomax Pipeline Construction where he worked for nearly 20 years.

In his spare time, he loved to deer hunt and road hunt, to dive off bluffs, spend time with family and friends, and anything else to make people laugh. He was an avid gun collector that loved his Nascar, baseball and football. He loved to watch his cooking shows and crime dramas while cuddling with his beloved dog Lucy.

Doug was a loving and caring son, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, who never met a stranger, was always the life of the party and was willing to help anyone in need. God broke the mold when he made him because he was definitely one of a kind. We celebrate his life and have many memories together that we will always cherish.
