Dorothy Mae Eickhoff, daughter of the late Edwin John and Alvina C. (Block) Mixdorf, was born March 20, 1927 in Waterloo, Iowa, and passed from this life October 6, 2017 at Mercy hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was 90 years, 6 months, and 16 days of age.
Dorothy was raised in Dunkerton, Iowa. She married Karl Eickhoff on April 27, 1950 in Waterloo, Iowa. Six daughters were born to this union. Dorothy and Karl farmed in both Iowa and Missouri. The family moved to the Mountain Grove community in 1981.
Dorothy loved spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed nature and
loved all animals. Dorothy especially loved her grandchildren and treasured the times she spent with them. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and playing all sorts of games. Dorothy worked at Polly’s Café and also at the Hayloft in Mountain Grove. She loved meeting and getting to know the many people that came to the restaurants.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Karl Eickhoff, on July 18, 2004, and twin granddaughters, Melissa and Melody Brooke.
She is survived by six daughters, Mica Brooke of Ava, Missouri, Lauralynn Carmody and her husband, David, of West Union, Iowa, Karla Eickhoff, Lisa Feston, and her husband, Drace, Gina Eickhoff, and Yvonne Rogers and her husband, Terry, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, one sister, Eleanor Weber and her husband, Kenneth, of Jesup, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, Preston and Michael Brooke, Brad and LeeAnn Carmody, Michelle and Christopher Hildebrandt, Renee Hildebrandt-Strief, Rachel, Rebecca, and Jacob Feston, Corey, Ashlynn, and Brendan Rogers, several great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends who will greatly miss her.
