Doris LaVaughn Miller, daughter of Joseph Brown and Nellie (Springer) Brown, was born May 12, 1926, in Galesburg, Kansas, and departed this life on October 7, 2022, in her granddaughters’ home at Macomb, Missouri, at the age of 96 years, 4 months, and 25 days.
She was united in marriage to James Miller on June 12, 1958. He preceded her in death on August 6, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Loralie Westhoff, brother, Joe Brown, and 2 sisters, Ruth Nutter and Naomi Nutter.
Doris is survived by a granddaughter, Angela Willis and husband, Kenny; grandson, Mark Westhoff; 3 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Devon and Elanna Sabado; other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Kansas. After she and Jim were married, they moved to Kansas City where she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. They moved to Mansfield in 1987 where she lived the rest of her life.
Doris made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member of the Mountain Grove First Christian Church.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading and being outdoors, keeping her yard in perfect condition. But most of all she loved her family, always willing to help them any way she could.
Doris was a loving and devoted grandmother, great-grandmother, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and will cherish the special times we had with her.
