Doris Jene Holifield, daughter of the late Luther and Media (Alphin) Halfacre, was born February 20, 1938, in Chiloquin, Oregon, and went to her home in Heaven on May 1, 2023, in Gainesville, Missouri. She was 85 years, 2 months, and 11 days of age.
Doris grew up in Corning, Arkansas, and started picking cotton at a very young age along with her siblings in efforts to help support their family. Doris was united in marriage to Billie D. Holifield on June 28, 1955, in Tupelo, Mississippi. She loved working on the farm, raising bottle calves, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Doris attended Mineral Point Fellowship Church with her niece, Yvonne Bowers, and did so for many years. She loved her church family. The Kuk family held a very special place in her heart.
Besides her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Holifield on February 18, 2013, one son, Billywayne “Bill” Holifield, two sisters, Wanda Hayes and Lue “Doodle” Mullins, and one brother, Elmer “Sonny” Halfacre.
Doris is survived by two children, Steve Holifield and husband, Michael Carey, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas, and Teresa Owens and husband, Bobby, of Tecumseh, Missouri, four grandchildren, Alecia Marcak of West Plains, Missouri, Jarred Fienhold of Caulfield, Missouri, Kyle Owens of Springfield, Missouri, and Katelyn Owens of Tecumseh, Missouri, nine great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Richard “Bill” Halfacre of Tecumseh, Missouri, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
