Doris Edna Jarrett - Lee

January 20, 1943 — July 26, 2009

Doris Edna Jarrett-Lee, daughter of Clint and Stella Aletha (McGuire) Barnes, was born on January 20, 1943 in Lynchburg, Missouri, and departed this life on July 26, 2009 in the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri following an extended illness. She was 66 years, 6 months and 6 days of age.
Doris grew up northeast of Manes, Missouri and was united in marriage to Jesse Walter Jarrett on December 21, 1957 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. Two daughters were born to this union. They made their home in the Mtn. Grove area where she was living at the time of her passing. Mr. Jarrett passed away on August 2, 2002.
Doris enjoyed singing and playing the many instruments she mastered. She performed with and was lead singer of two Bluegrass/Gospel bands: The Wilderness Singers of which her husband, Walter, played the harmonica and The Country Cousins. Both bands recorded their music.
Doris was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was saved at an early age and rededicated her life to the Lord and was baptized some years later. She was very active in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School through the years, and was a longtime member of the Southside Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove. She also attended the Emanuel Baptist Church.
Besides her first husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by her father: Clint Barnes. She is survived by her mother: Stella Aletha Barnes (better known as “Granny)” of Mtn. Grove; her second husband: Robert E. Lee of Mtn. Grove formerly of Benton, Kentucky; her daughters: Debra Banes and her husband, Eddie, of Fredricktown, Missouri, and Sherry Fisk and her husband, Kevin, of Norwood, Missouri; two brothers: Calvin Barnes and his wife, Barbara, of Mtn. Grove, and Junior Barnes and his wife, Donna, of Macomb, Missouri; one sister: Reeta Benkert and her husband, Patrick, of Vanzant, Missouri; five grandchildren; Jason Tinnin, Joshua Tinnin, Jessica Tinnin, Jaimee Banes and Taylor Fisk; several great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends.

The ache in our hearts is lessened by knowing that Doris is in Heaven now, residing with Jesus, whom she knew as her personal Savior.
“For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8,9
