Doris Annabell (Giles) Clark

Doris AnnaBell Clark, daughter of the late Frank M. and Jessie (Hancock) Giles, was born on January 26, 1930 in Tetrick, Missouri in Douglas County, and passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. She was 84 years, 3 months, and 22 days of age.

Doris grew up in the Tetrick Community. She attended the Mtn. Grove High School and graduated in 1947. She then attended Missouri State Teachers College in Springfield, Missouri and graduated with a Teaching Degree. Her first teaching job was for the Diamond School and later she taught at Bakersfield, Victory, Vanzant, Mtn. Grove, and retired from the Dora School. All of her teaching positions were held in one room school houses except for Dora. Over the years, Doris blessed many children with her wisdom and compassion. In all, she taught school for thirty-four years and retired in 1983.

Doris was united in marriage to Murrell Clark on August 14, 1954 in Ava, Missouri. They had made their home in Douglas County for several years, where they raised their family and later made their home in Mtn. Grove.

Doris was a farm girl at heart and loved being outdoors. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens each year.

Doris was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and visiting with her many friends.

Some of her favorite pastimes were watching Bob Ross, painting, and fishing. She was known as an accomplished swimmer and diver.

She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove, Missouri for over thirty-years. She loved her church, church family, and teaching Sunday School.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter: Ann Lynnette Underwood; and by one brother: William Bill Giles.

She is survived by her husband: Murrell Clark of their home in Mtn. Grove; three sons: Stanley Clark and his wife, Serita, of Drury, Missouri, Gary Clark and his wife, Eva, of Vanzant, Missouri, and Robert Clark of Springfield, Missouri; one brother: Bob Giles and his wife, Dee, of Rogersville, Missouri; seven grandchildren; Jessica, Stacey, Candy, Josi, Matt, Tyler, and Casey; fourteen great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss her.


Visitation: Wednesday, May 21st from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM in the Southside Baptist Church. Funeral Service: Thursday, May 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Southside Baptist Church, Mtn. Grove.
