Donald Gene Riley

Donald Gene Riley, son of Donald Ira and Burnice Marie (Hicks) Riley, was born on May 6, 1969 in Fort Riley, Kansas, and passed away on November 29, 2012 in the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, at 43 years of age.

Following his father’s retirement in 1978, the family moved to their farm near Cabool, Missouri.

Don was of the Baptist faith and loved working in Children’s Church. He also enjoyed hunting and going to the lake fishing.

He attended Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Missouri during his junior year of high school, and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1987. He was a certified welder and a computer technician.

Don was preceded in death by his father: Donald I. Riley in 1982.

He is survived by his loving mother: Burnice Marie Riley of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; two cousins: B.J. Cash and his wife, Becky, of Willow Springs, Missouri, and Sonny Cash and his wife, Diane, of Holts Summit, Missouri; and other relatives and friends who will sadly miss him.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative care, the doctors, chaplains, and all the wonderful nurses and staff. They gave such love and compassion to Don during his final days in the hospital.
