Donald George Massey, son of the late George and Betty (Carriker) Massey, was born on November 17, 1946 in Arizona, and departed this life on Monday, December 3, 2007, in the St. John’s Regional Health Center in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. He was 61 years and 17 days of age.
Donald grew up Arizona and California and moved to Missouri sixteen years ago where he made his home in the Mtn. Grove area.
He was united in marriage to Martha Metcalf on January 5, 2002 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was employed as a caregiver, and was also a custodian for a Presbyterian Church in California for several years. While working there he met former President Ronald Regan and received his autograph during the visit.
He enjoyed playing music and singing at church. He had a very giving heart and generous personality. He loved people and enjoyed visiting with his family friends.
Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death by one brother: Ron Massey.
He is survived by his wife: Martha Massey of Ava, Missouri; one son: Mike Cusack of Yucca Valley, California; three step-sons: Mark Cox, Gary Cox, and Micah Cox, all of ava, Missouri; two brothers: Terry Massey and Otto Massey, both of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; two half sisters: Jeannie and Joannie; one grandchild: Hannah Cusack; six step-grandchildren: Marcus, Brittney, Joshua, Jasmine, David, and Jacob; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
