Donald Caleb Ratterree, son of the late John L. and Florence (Owens) Ratterree, was born on January 9, 1931 in Huggins, Missouri, and passed away on April 28, 2014 at his residence north of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, surrounded by his family. He was 83 years, 3 months and 19 days of age.
Don was raised in the Huggins Community and attended the Logan School.
Don married Maxine Oliphant on April 12, 1952 in Graff, Missouri, and recently celebrated sixty-two years of marriage. Five children were born to this union.
After their marriage, they moved to Wichita, Kansas for a few years where he worked for Beechcraft. They later returned to the Mtn. Grove area where he bought his first farm and began dairy farming. He also worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. Don began preaching in May of 1962 and continued preaching for 52 years; pastoring many churches in the area. He was attending Almost Home Ministries Church at the time of his passing.
He enjoyed working with horses, hunting and fishing, wood working, fish fries, and family gatherings.
Don was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Terry Dean Ratterree; one brother: David Ratterree; one sister: Delores Turner; and by twin granddaughters: Brooke and Destine.
He is survived by his wife: Maxine Ratterree of the home; three sons: Lynn Ratterree, Larry Ratterree and his wife, Shelly, all of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Rick Ratterree and his wife, Annette, of Brighton, Missouri; one daughter: Regina Walker and her husband, Ben, of Mtn. Grove; two brothers: John Ratterree and his wife, Brexine, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Jerry Ratterree and his wife, Irene, of Mtn. Grove; two sisters: Edna Oliphant and Naomi Dugger and her husband, Don, all of Hartville, Missouri; twelve grandchildren: Ryan, Carl, Heather, Dustin, Sandie, Britnie, Robbie, Kyle, Brandon, Kayla, Ashley, and Larrisa; twenty-four great-grandchildren; many other family, relatives, and friends.
Visitation: Tuesday, April 29, 2014 from 6:00 PM 8:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
Funeral Service: Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church.
Burial: Hopewell Cemetery
