Don W. Raney

Donald W. Raney, son of the late Clarence A. and Anna Laura (Steinert) Raney, was born on March 27, 1926 on their farm near Norwood, Missouri and departed this life on November 14, 2008 at 82 years of age.
Don grew up in the Norwood area and was raised on the same farm as his dad. He attended Norwood School and would have graduated with the Class of 1944, but he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1945.
Don was a quiet spoken man and the same was true with his walk with the Lord. He had a stroke in 2006 and his health declined.
He was very active in the Mtn. Grove Senior Center where he made many special friends. He enjoyed all kinds of dancing and was outstanding on the dance floor. In his younger years, Don was good with construction work. He worked in California a number of years and had several jobs locally as well as farming.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Hollis Raney, Bobby Raney, and Lewis Raney; one sister: Bonnie Sanders; and by a special aunt: Eunice Souder who lived with him seven years.
He is survived by one brother: Floyd Raney and his wife, Emajean, of Mtn. Grove; one sister: Shirley Lindsay and her husband, Jack, of Springfield, Missouri; special nephew and nieces that he considered his grandkids: Rev. Kem Lindsay of Gastonia, North Carolina, Jacqua Garrison of Springfield, Missouri, and Dawn Lindsay of Bolivar, Missouri; his other nieces and nephews: Dr. Patricia Sanders and Rob Sanders of Brandon, Florida, Suzette Crutcher of Springfield, Missouri, Lounette Haste of Zolfo Springs, Florida, Bill Raney and Melvin Stillwell of Mtn. Grove; and other relatives, neighbors and friends who will miss him very much.

Monday, November 17, at 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Sunday, November 16, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM in the funeral home.
