Dixie Faye Ellis, daughter of the late Thomas and Beulah (Ellis) Sullivan, was born on March 18, 1923 in Bearden, Arkansas, and passed from this life on August 2, 2013 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 90 years, 4 months, and 12 days of age.
Dixie was raised and attended school in Bearden, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Jim Ellis in January of 1948 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Two children, Jimmie and Barbara, were born to this union. Dixie was converted at an early age to the Baptist faith and attended church as long as health permitted. She served in the Army during WWII in England, France, and Germany as a telephone director.
Besides her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
She is survived by her husband: Jim Ellis of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one son: Jimmie K. Ellis and wife, Karen, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; one daughter: Barbara Morgan of Nashville, Tennessee; one step-son: Jay Ellis of Springfield, Missouri; two grandchildren: Evan Morgan and Dana Adamson; four step-grandchildren: David Ellis, Jennifer Ellis, Kristie Johnson, and Amber Williams; one great-grandchild: Ava Adamson; three step-great-grandchildren: Mikayla Williams, Blake Williams, and Daniel Haase; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends that will dearly miss her.
The Ellis family would like to thank the staff of Autumn Oaks Caring Center and Three Rivers Hospice of Mtn. Grove.
