Dickie Ray Branett, son of Coy and Ruth (Amos) Barnett, was born on April 13, 1945 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and passed away on April 1, 2007 at his residence in Mtn. Grove following a long illness, at 61 years of age.
Dickie grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove. During high school he played baseball and later in life he enjoyed playing softball on town leagues during the summer. Following high school he worked as a painter and drywall contractor in the Kansas City and Fort Leonard areas and was employed in this line of work for over thirty years.
He married his loving companion of twenty years, Roberta “Bobbie” (Warren) Abraham in 1997.
Dickie enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing and fox and coyote hunting. He was known in the area for raising good fox hounds.
He was preceded in death by his father: Coy Barnett; and by a brother: Vernon Barnett.
He is survived by his loving wife: Bobbie Barnett if their home; his mother: Ruth Barnett of Mtn. Grove; two step-sons: John Barnes and his wife, Michele and Don Abraham, all of Springfield, Missouri; three step-daughters: Tracy Barnes and Kristine Eddy, both of Springfield, Missouri, and Kathleen Campbell of Clearwater, Florida; one niece: Vicky Whitehead of St. Louis, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
Funeral Services:
Wednesday, April 4, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
Visitation:
No formal visitation. Family and friends may view from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
