Dewey Emmit Haigler

July 17, 1942 — December 29, 2012

Dewey Emmit Haigler, son of the late Allen Enoch and Jennie Sylvia (Keeling) Haigler, was born on July 17, 1942 in Grovespring, Missouri and departed this life on December 29, 2012 in Springfield, Missouri. He was 70 years, 5 months, and 12 days of age.

Dewey grew up in and attended school in Mansfield, Missouri and was a graduate of Mansfield High School in 1960. While attending school, Dewey met his high school sweetheart and future wife, Donna Sue Nelson. In 1961, Dewey volunteered for service in the United States Army. He completed basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and then went on to graduate from the Southeast Signal Corps School in Fort Gordon, Georgia. Dewey was honorably discharged on May 4, 1962.

Dewey and Donna were united in marriage on July 19, 1963 in Ponca City, Oklahoma where they began their life together. While living in Ponca City their first son David was born. The following year they lived in Kansas City, Missouri and then moved to Oxnard, California where two more children, Kenneth and Brenda, were born. They later moved the family to the Missouri Ozarks in 1969. Dewey and his family had the privilege of living and caretaking on two Baptist Youth Camps: Camp Calvary, located near Hartville, Missouri from 1972 to 1976; and Simmons Memorial Baptist Youth Camp, located near Houston, Missouri from 1977 to 1981. They then moved to Norwood, Missouri where they lived until his passing. Dewey accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 11, was an ordained Deacon of his church, and now makes his eternal home in Heaven.

In addition to his parents, Dewey was preceded in death by two brothers: William “Bill” Haigler and Allen Haigler, Jr.; and one sister: Darlene Elley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years: Donna Sue Haigler; two sons: David Allen Haigler and wife Roseanna of Saudi Arabia; Kenneth Eugene Haigler and wife, Lynn of DeSoto, Missouri; one daughter: Brenda Darlene Dinwiddie and husband, Scott of Ava, Missouri; seven grandchildren: Brandon Fulton Sellers, Stephanie Rochelle (Sellers) Walk, Nicholette Rene Haigler, Dustin Ray Haigler, Devan Courtland Haigler, Joshua Nicholas Haigler and Noah Michael Haigler; two great-grandsons: Alex Colton Walk and Blake Tyler Moody; one sister: Freda Brockman; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will greatly miss him.
