Dennis Lee Hamilton

July 12, 1940 — February 14, 2012

Dennis Lee Hamilton, son of the late George Lloyd and Verona Helen (Lindell) Hamilton, was born on July 12, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska, and departed this life surrounded by his family on the early morning of February 14, 2012 at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was 71 years, 7 months and 2 days of age.
Dennis grew up and attended school and college in Kansas City, Missouri. He served his country in the United States Army and Army Reserves from 1958 to 1962 in the 82nd Airborne Division.
He was united in marriage to Judie Wilmot in 1960. This union was blessed with three sons: Steve, Mike and Matt, and one daughter: Kathy.
Dennis served in various sales positions in Kansas City, Missouri for a while.
In 1972, the family moved to Cole Camp, Missouri, where he began dairy farming and later raising turkeys and hogs.
He then went to work for Howard’s Construction Company in Sedalia, Missouri, as a foreman for a paving crew.
On September 14, 1991, he married Patsy Coffman. She brought three children to this union. After marrying Patsy, Dennis became a part of the Coffman family. He commented on how he greatly appreciated them accepting him into their family.
Dennis and Pasty worked for the Holiday Retirement Company, managing an independent retirement facility. The company allowed them to travel to several destinations over the years. In 2009, they retired and moved to Mtn. Grove, Missouri. His step-daughter, Kim, introduced Dennis to Rev. Bill and Carla Morris of the Calvary Temple Church.
Dennis believed that this couple, along with his step-daughters, Kim and Brenda, was a real inspiration in his life. Through them, he found the Lord. He stated that the Lord was good to him and answered every prayer that he asked.
At the time of his passing, Dennis was attending the Calvary Temple Church near Mtn. Grove. He greatly enjoyed the services and visiting with his many friends each week.
Dennis was a wonderful and caring husband, father, step-father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Robert Hamilton; and by two sisters: Shirley Duerr and Donna Mack.
He is survived by his loving wife: Patsy Hamilton of their home in Mtn. Grove; three sons: Steve Hamilton of Jefferson City, Missouri, Mike Hamilton and his wife, Denise, of Centralia, Missouri, and Matt Hamilton and his wife, Isabel, of Vienna, Missouri; his daughter: Kathy Oelrichs and her husband, Tom, of Mora, Missouri; one step-son: Ronnie Wade Jr., and his wife, Jackie, of Anderson, Indiana; two step-daughters: Kim Russell of Mtn. Grove, and Brenda Freeman and her husband, Mark, of Cabool, Missouri; his mother-in-law: Carrie Coffman of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; three brothers-in-law: Dean Coffman and Jean Coffman, both of Mtn. Grove, and Larry Coffman of Hartville, Missouri; four sisters-in-law: Mable Tetrick of Mtn. Grove, Dottie Perryman of Raymondville, Missouri, Donna Carlson of Mtn. Grove and Darlene Bradshaw of Norwood, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; great-nieces; great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Dennis said, “He would be waiting in Heaven for Patsy to dance with him.”
