Delores Fay Vassar, daughter of the late Lyle E. and Oneta (Altis) Colson, was born on February 19, 1943 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri and departed this life on Thursday, July 17, 2008 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. Delores won the her battle over complications of Anesthesia only to succumb to MRSA (staph). She was 65 years, 4 months and 28 days of age.
Delores grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to Donald Richard Vassar on November 26, 1961 in Mtn. Grove. Five children were born to this union. They made their home in Springfield and moved to the Branson, Missouri area a few years ago. Donald passed away on February 25, 2005.
Delores enjoyed doing ceramics, crocheting and reading in her spare time.
She was a true homemaker and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Her grandchildren became the joy of her life. She loved each minute she spent with them. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one son: Paul Vassar.
She is survived by one son: Donald Vassar Jr. of Springfield, Missouri; three daughters: Annette Dalton and her husband, Robert, of Taneyville, Missouri, Pamela Dapprich and her husband, Larry, of Branson, Missouri, and Kerry Morrow and her husband, James, of Walnut Shade, Missouri; three brothers: Kenneth Colson and his wife, Terry, of Dallas, Texas, Vernon Colson and his wife, Linda, of Mumford, Oklahoma, and Larry Colson and his wife, Susan, of Mtn. Grove; ten grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Delores won her battle over complications of Anesthesia only to succumb to MRSA.
Funeral services for Delores Vassar were held Monday, July 21, 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel with Rev. Ronald Turner officiating. Song selections were “Far Side Banks Of Jordan,” “Amazing Grace,” “Old Rugged Cross,” and “When We All Get To Heaven.” Rhonda Hurtt served as musician. Pallbearers were Rob Dalton, James Morrow, Larry Dapprich, Dusty Dalton, Brett Dalton, Bryce Morrow. Honorary pallbearers were Nicholas Dapprich, Brandt Morrow, and Travis Dalton. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
