Delma Irene Marlyere

Delma Irene Marlyere, daughter of the late Ralph Earl and Bessie May (Spence) Brent, was born on January 6, 1922 in Smithshire, Illinois, and departed this life on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at her residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following an extended illness. She was 88 years, 4 months and 9 days of age.
Delma grew up and attended school in the Smithshire area. She was united in marriage to Fred Marliere in 1940. They enjoyed farming for many years. Fred passed away 1970. On February 14, 1971 in Viola, Illinois, Delma married Fred’s brother, Harold Marlyere. They were very involved with the local Lion’s Club and they also owned a hotel and furniture store for several years. They had made their home in the Mtn. Grove area for many years. Harold passed away in 2001.
Delma enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing. It was said that she could out fish anyone around her. She also liked to bake cookies and pies and she loved helping anyone who had a need.
She was a member of the Almost Home Ministries Church in Mtn. Grove, where she enjoyed church activities and visiting with her many friends.
Besides her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by one son: Steven Marlyere; a grandchild: Jami Marliere; and by her two brothers and four sisters.
She is survived by three sons and their wives: Ralph and Stella Marliere of Mtn. Grove, Ted Marliere of Chillicothe, Illinois, and Nick and Linda Marlyere, also of Chillicothe, Illinois; two daughters and their husbands: Helen and Lee Hoover of Mtn. Grove, and Judy and Ed Carlson of Maple Grove, Minnesota; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Almost Home Ministries.
Visitation:
Monday, May 17, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
