David Thompson

David Allen Thompson, son of the late Allen and Mabel (English) Thompson, was born September 10, 1958, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He passed away on February 17, 2025, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 66.

Dave worked for several years in the heating and air industry before switching to management of a shopping mall. He was an outdoors enthusiast. Any time spent outdoors was time well spent. He liked to water ski and surf in his earlier years. Other outdoor activities included hiking, mountain climbing, camping, and fishing. One notable trip was going back to Canada where he got to fish for salmon and deep sea fish. Dave was also a skilled pool player. He enjoyed playing in Las Vegas with the professionals.

Dave’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Many great memories were made together in the great outdoors over the years. Those memories will live on in each of the lives that was privileged enough to be a part of his.

Dave is survived by his loving wife, Marlene Thompson; three sons, John Joseph Powell and wife, Reanna, James Allen Thompson and Bradley David Thompson and wife, Ashley; four grandchildren, Iverlee Powell, Jensen Powell, Jason Thompson, and Liam Thompson; one brother, Charles “Chuck” Thompson; one sister, Sandra Stark; many nephews and nieces; and many other relatives and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
