David George Stokes, a loving and talented gentleman, was born on November 26, 1944, in Elkins, West Virginia, and left us with a treasure trove of memories on June 4, 2023. He was 78 years, 6 months and 9 days of age. David, a man with boundless creativity and wit, lived a life filled with laughter and love. In the words of Dr. Seuss, "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." David's life was a testament to this sentiment, and he will be dearly missed.
Growing up in Pennsylvania, David's adventurous spirit led him to various places. He met the love of his life, Dee Wienczkowski and they were united in marriage on June 25, 1988. His greatest joys and two daughters were born to this union, Rebecca and Jessica. His adventures continued as he lived in Tennessee, where he owned Metalloid Dock Company, building boat docks and storage barns. Eventually, he settled in Macomb, Missouri, where he embraced his true calling as a farmer. David's passion for agriculture was matched only by his love for blacksmithing, horse shoeing, and gun collecting. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, David was also a gifted storyteller, always ready to regale his family and friends with tales of his experiences and adventures.
David's unwavering love for his family and friends was the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Brattain and Jessica Musterman; his sisters, Kathy Landgraff and Sally Stokes. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dee Stokes, and his parents, Francis and Jerry Stokes. As we remember David, we celebrate a life filled with laughter, love, and creativity. His legacy as a talented, loving individual will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
