David Samuel Harris

David Dave Samuel Harris, son of Don and Marilyn (Manchester) Harris, was born on June 20, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri, and departed this life on Friday, May 23, 2014 in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 56 years of age.
Dave grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1975. He attended Southwest Missouri State (Missouri State University) in Springfield, Missouri for a year. He was a certified lumber grader and worked with his father at Harris Lumber Company for a number of years. At the time of his passing, he was employed by Grisham farms.
Dave was baptized at the Trinity United Methodist Church at a young age. In recent months, he enjoyed attending Almost Home Ministries.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing with his kids. He wasnt any good at it, but loved doing it.
He also was an avid arrowhead artifact collector. He couldnt pass up a plowed field. Dave acquired a love for music which became a lifetime passion. (Nothing like a good drummer to keep the band in step).
Dave was quick to light up a room with his wit, jokes, and animated stories.
He was a loving and caring son, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and uncle. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved his chocolate Labrador, Molly, and was teased that he loved her like a favorite fourth kid.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Dave is survived by his parents: Don and Marilyn Harris of Mtn. Grove; his three sons: David Harris, Jr., and his wife, Mia, of West Plains, Missouri, Jared Harris and his wife, Darcy, of Mtn. Grove, and Jon Harris of Hollister, Missouri; two sisters: Cindy Peterson and her husband, Gary, of Mtn. Grove, and Carrie Sapp and her husband, Michael, of Nixa, Missouri, six grandchildren: Madilyn, Malia, Hayden Cannon, Kamren, Brady, and Heston; his dog: Molly, of the home; other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.


Visitation: Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside Service: Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
