David 'Poppy' Joseph Fry

David Joseph Fry, son of the late Edward and Sylvia (Mathews) Fry, was born on May 22, 1922, in Long Beach, California, and departed this life on February 28, 2016, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. He was 93 years, 9 months, and 6 days of age.
David was born and raised in Long Beach, California. He later moved to the High Desert in Lucerne Valley, California, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for Kiser Cement, retiring in 1984. In 2003, David moved to Cabool, Missouri. He was a member of the Southern Cruisers Car Club. David loved to show off his 1965 Ford Mustang, and accumulated over one hundred trophies while showing his car.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife; Kathryn Susie Abney; two brothers and one sister.
He is survived by one daughter: Annette McCarty and her husband, James, of Cabool, Missouri; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
