David Lynn Hicks

David Lynn Hicks, son of the late Herbert “Otis” and Tinty “Lorene" (Barlett) Hicks, was born on November 20, 1957 in Springfield, Missouri, and passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2013 in the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, following an extended illness with a heart condition. He was 55 years, 11 months and 20 days of age.
David grew up and attended school in Norwood. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Stout on May 9, 1978. Two sons, Rocky and Gary were born to this union. He and Marilyn enjoyed over thirty-five years of marriage.
David was a good son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend and neighbor. He especially loved to spend time with his grandchildren and visit with his family and friends. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He attended the Mansfield Free Will Baptist Church at the time of his passing. He came to know the Lord and grew to love his church family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother: Gary Lee Hicks; a sister: Brenda Sue Hicks; four brothers-in-law: Dennis Hartley, Jesse Sanders, Bobby Bennett, and Robert Helums; a sister-in-law: Rita Hicks; and by a grandchild.
He is survived by his loving wife: Marilyn Hicks of their home near Norwood, Missouri; his two sons: Rocky Hicks and his wife, Carrie, of Norwood, Missouri and Gary Hicks and his wife, Tracy, of Macomb, Missouri; four grandchildren: James, Nathan, Kadence, and David Cooper Hicks; two brothers: Billie Hicks and his wife, Cheryl, of Norwood, Missouri, and Keith Hicks and his wife, Doris, of Bly, Oregon; four sisters: Eva Lula Belle “Dootie” Hartley, of Spirit Lake, Idaho; Ava Nell Sanders of Norwood, Missouri, Sherry Bennett of Ava, Missouri, and Regina Helums and John Spiva, of Norwood, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relatives and friends.
