David Calvin Shannon, son of late Lyle and Fern (Smith) Shannon, was born on April 12, 1961 in Cabool, Missouri and passed away on April 13, 2009 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, following a six month illness, at 48 years of age.
David grew up in Drury, Missouri and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1979. He was employed in construction work for many years.
He was an avid NASCAR fan and he loved watching races and sports on T.V. A special memory was when he got to meet NASCAR driver, Carl Edwards. One of his doctors was Carl’s wife who arranged the meeting.
He also was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and spending time with his family and friends. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart.
David was a caring and kind son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, neighbor and friend. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by three sisters: April Shannon of Drury, Missouri, Mary Byers and Lisa Shannon, both of Cabool, Missouri; three nieces: Summer Cain and her husband, Jimmy, Amber Shannon and Dale Amundson and Brittany Byers; one nephew: J.D. Byers and his wife, Ebony; two great-nieces: Maya Cain and Celie Cain; two great-nephews: Jaydan Amundson and Trustin Amundson; and a host other relatives, friends and neighbors.

Visitation:
Wednesday, April 15, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
