David Andrew Mason, son of Billy and Mary Ann (Johnston) Mason, was born January 1, 1974 in Monett, Missouri and departed this life February 17, 2017 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was 43 years, 1 month, and 16 days of age.
David grew up in the Norwood, Missouri area and attended school there. He graduated with the class of 1992. After graduating high school he attended and graduated from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree. In 1999, he received his Certified Public Accountant Certificate from Missouri State Board of Accounting.
Following graduation from college, David started his career at Century Bank in Jefferson City, Missouri. He progressed through finance analyst roles at Sprint and Cerner in Kansas City, Missouri, and most recently at Alstom Signaling (formerly GE Signaling) in Grain Valley. At Alstom, David was leading a global team in finance process redesign. Previously, he led the finance, planning and analysis activities for the North American Products business. Davids deep knowledge earned him several GE Transportation CFO awards and his collaborative nature made him a trusted partner and friend to colleagues globally.
David was an avid Kansas City Royals fan. Together with friends, he visited all the baseball stadiums in the United States, except for California. His friends were his family. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. David travelled overseas for his job and for pleasure to several countries such as, France, England, Ireland, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Aruba, and Mauritius Island.
David suffered a massive stroke followed by a mini stroke. His quality of life was forever changed. David did a lot of charitable work wherever he lived and this continued even through his death by being an organ donor. Through organ donation, he was able to give the gift of life with two kidneys, two lungs, a liver, and various other tissues.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas A. Mason, his paternal grandmother, Perla M. Russell, and by his step-grandfather, John Russell.
David is survived by his parents, Billy and Mary Ann Mason of Mountain Grove, Missouri, his brother, Chris T. Mason and his wife, Medea, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, two nephews, Kyle Mason and Levi Mason of Mountain Grove, Missouri, a great-niece, Anistyn Mason of Mountain Grove, Missouri, maternal grandparents, J.R. and Janet Johnston of Norwood, Missouri, two uncles, Tom Mason and his wife, Susan, of Norwood, Missouri, Herbie Johnston and his wife, Jeanne, of Norwood, Missouri, his aunt, Karen Ross and her husband, Mike, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, numerous cousins, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
