Darrell McNish

Darrell Lee McNish, son of Bill McNish and Jessie (Young) McNish, was born September 27, 1948, in Northview, Missouri, and departed this life, December 4, 2024, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 76 years, 2 months, and 7 days.

On July 5, 1969, he was united in marriage to Vonna Ice and to this union two children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William McNish; and three sisters, Wanda Mondy, Alverta Dishman, and Betty Lewis.

Darrell is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vonna; daughter, Gaila McNish; son, Waylon McNish, both of Fordland, Missouri; grandchildren, Darik McNish and wife, Misty, and Joseph Wester; great-grandchildren, Jersey McNish, Samantha McNish, and Darrell McNish Jr.; brother, Mike McNish and wife, Debbie, of Seymour, Missouri; sisters, Kay Stoll and husband, Sam, of Fordland, Missouri, and Connie Gann and husband, Mark, of Rogersville, Missouri; several nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.

He was born at Northview and graduated from Fordland High School in the Class of 1966. After graduating, he served his country faithfully in the United States Navy on board the USS Princeton and USS Alamo. After serving our country he attended OTC and earned a certified mechanic degree. He worked as a mechanic at AMC Jeep in Springfield, Friendly Ford in Marshfield and opened his own garage (McNish Garage) in Fordland. He worked in construction at Dewitt & Associates and Walton Construction before retiring.

Darrell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend.

We have many, many great memories of times spent together that we will always cherish.
