Dallas Ray Sparks, son of the late Luther and May Dean (Havens) Sparks, was born on July 28, 1943 in Vanzant, Missouri, and departed this life on January 20, 2016 at his home in Vanzant.
Dallas was raised in the Vanzant community and graduated from Dora High School. He married Betty Creagor on January 16, 1961 in Douglas County. Three children were born to this union.
Dallas worked at a saw mill for several years and built fences and cut firewood. He also traveled around building grain elevators in Iowa, Minnesota, Arkansas, and Missouri. Dallas loved to be outdoors gardening, fishing, and hunting. He was known for his watermelons and sweet corn. He also enjoyed hunting wild roots, especially ginseng. Dallas was quick to help a neighbor or friend. He was impulsive and passionate and had a good sense of humor. Dallas was dearly loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Besides his parent, Dallas was preceded in death by one sister: Karen Gott.
He is survived by his loving wife of their home: Betty; two sons: Dennis Sparks of Vanzant, Missouri, and Danny Sparks and his wife, Carrie, of Crane, Missouri; one daughter: Barbara Briscoe and her husband, David, of Willow Springs, Missouri; one sister: Mary Lou Johnson and her husband, Sam, of Drury, Missouri; three grandchildren: Jennifer Smith, Mallory Briscoe, and Emily Sparks; and one great-grandchild: Logan Smith.
Visitation: Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM in the Chapel.
Funeral Service: Monday, January 25, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel.
Burial: Willow Springs #2 Cemetery, Douglas County.
