Dale Eugene Vandiver

December 25, 1949 — April 16, 2016

Dale Eugene Vandiver, son of the late Tom Vandiver and Maxine (Freeman) McCall, was born December 25, 1949, in Cabool, Missouri, and departed this life on April 16, 2016 in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 66 years, 3 months, and 22 days of age.


Dale grew up in the Cabool and Mountain Grove area. He graduated with the Mountain Grove High School class of 1967. Dale was employed with Mansfield Steel for 18 years. He was a hard worker who was dedicated to his job and doing it right.


Dale was most recently known from working at Walmart as a door greeter and public relations (PR) associate. Dale was a friendly man who could strike up a conversation with anyone he met. He was also a man who cared for others and looked forward to opportunities to help his friends and neighbors when possible.


Dale was an avid outdoors man, who especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. His greatest passion in life was spending time with his grandchildren. He loved taking annual trips with them to the Ozark Empire Fair. Dale was a loving and devoted father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.


Dale had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and attended the First Free Will Baptist Church of Mountain Grove, when health permitted.


Besides his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two sons: Thomas Vandiver and Joe Vandiver; and one brother: Ferlin McCall.


Dale is survived by three sons: Jason Vandiver and wife, Kayla, of Mountain Grove, Brandon Vandiver and wife, Jasmine, of Mountain Grove, and Keven Garner and wife, Jennifer, of Cabool; one daughter: Jennifer Brown of Lyons, Kansas; six grandchildren: Breanna, Brett, and Bracelynn Vandiver, Lorrin, Matthew, and Niles; one brother: Leroy McCall and wife, Lisa, of Mountain Grove; five sisters: Edith Westfall of Mountain Grove, Elpha Loper and husband, Ronnie, of Cabool, Juanita Bennett and husband, Marvin, of Mansfield, Earcille Hash and husband, Harold, of Lebanon, and Joyce Bitick and husband, Gene, of Carthage, Missouri; numerous nephews and nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation: Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 6:00 - 7:00 PM in the Chapel.

Service: Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel.

Burial: Fairview Cemetery, South of Mountain Grove

Memorial Contributions: May be made to American Lung Association c/o the funeral home.
