Dale Eugene Leighty

Dale Eugene Leighty, son of the late Oscar and Florence (Maxwell) Leighty, was born on December 27, 1932 in Huggins, Missouri. God called him home on January 5, 2017. He was 84 years and 9 days of age.

Dale attended school in Houston, Missouri. Shortly after graduation, he traveled to Warrensburg, Missouri, for work. There he met and married the love of his life, Agnes Clear. They were married for 61 years and together, they raised three children. Dale and Agnes made their home in Mountain Grove for the majority of their married lives.

Dale worked several different jobs through the years, but the nineteen years he spent as a custodian for the Mountain Grove School district is where he will be remembered the most. Dales sweet smile, gentle heart, and often heard whistling as he walked the school hallways will not soon be forgotten.

Throughout the years, Dale and Ages helped start several churches in the Mountain Grove area.

Dale loved gardening, reading, especially western novels, and the Lord. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among his greatest loves and his proudest accomplishments.

Dale will be greeted in Heaven by his parents and one brother-in-law, Owen Hurt.

Dale will be sitting at the right hand of his Master, patiently awaiting the arrival of his loving wife, Agnes of their home, two sons, Pastor Vernon Leighty and his wife, Jackie, of Marshfield, Missouri, and Victor Leighty and his wife, Richelle, of Willow Springs, Missouri, one daughter, Sandra Adams and her husband, Michael of Leeton, Missouri, honorary daughter, Carol Beck and her husband, John Leeton, Missouri, two sisters, Fern Hurt of Carthage, Missouri, and Iretta Dugger and her husband, Ronnie of Mountain Grove, Missouri, eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.

Dale asked for two things in lieu of flowers: read your Bible daily and hold your family close. This is not goodbye, its just until we meet again.


Visitation: Sunday, January 8, 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Four Rivers Church, Marshfield, Missouri.

Celebration of Life: Sunday, January 8, 2017, at 6:00 PM at Four Rivers Church, Marshfield, Missouri.

Graveside Service: Monday, January 9, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mountain Grove, Missouri.

Memorial Contributions: Four Rivers Church or Mercy Hospice of Lebanon, in care of the funeral home.
