Crayton Earl Groat, son of the late Earl Chester Groat and Cordia Avis Rogers, was born June 12, 1934, in McPherson, Kansas, and departed this life June 30, 2018, in the Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains, Missouri. He was 84 years and 18 days of age.
Crayton grew up and attended school in Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully for 20 years before retiring. He was united in marriage to Mavis Frost in May of 1958 while serving in England. Four children were born to this union. Mavis passed away in 1991. Crayton was united in marriage to Priscilla Sloan on November 12, 1993. They made their home in the Mountain Grove, Missouri area.
Crayton enjoyed talking about his time in the Air Force. He liked spending time with friends and neighbors. Crayton was a railroad and train enthusiast who enjoyed history, collecting, and operating model trains.
Besides his parents and first wife, Crayton was preceded in death by one son, Steve, one sister, Blanche.
He is survived by his wife, Priscilla Groat of Mountain Grove, one son, David, two daughters, Christina and Michelle, grandchildren, one brother, Al Groat, and many other relatives and friends who will miss him.
