Clara Alice Smith

Clara Alice Smith, daughter of the late Donald E. and Minnie (Jones) Piper, was born on July 1, 1927 in Guthrie, Texas on the 6666 Ranch, and departed this life on February 14, 2010 at her residence on Mtn. Grove, Missouri following a 13 year battle with breast cancer. She was 82 years, 7 months and 13 days of age.
Clara grew up in west Texas and graduated from Ysleta High School in El Paso, Texas. She was united in marriage to Stormy F. Smith on December 23, 1947. One daughter was born to this union.
Clara was an avid downhill skier and golfer. She and Stormy enjoyed traveling in their R.V. across the United States where they made many friends over the years.
Clara was also a gourmet cook and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She also liked to read in her spare time.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband: Stormy, on September 20, 1999.
She is survived by her daughter: Kim Nixon of Mtn. Grove; her grandson: Joshua Obermueller and his wife, Anne; one great-grandson: Wesley John Obermueller; one sister: Diann (Piper) Williams and her husband, Don, of Dallas, Texas; two nieces: Donna Vaughn and Nita Noble and their families; and other relatives and friends.
