Charles Leon Haste, son of the late John D. and Lola D. (Spruill) Haste, was born on February 23, 1934 in Edenton, North Carolina, and departed this life on February 8, 2015 at his residence in Zolfo Springs, Florida, fifteen days short of his 81st birthday.
Charles grew up and graduated high school from Edenton. He joined the Navy on September 25, 1951. Charles spent twenty-two years serving his country and then retired on June 1, 1973. He enjoyed hauling cattle for others and raising his own beef cattle for many years.
Charles married Lounette Stillwell in Miami, Oklahoma on June 28, 1991. In 2008, Charles and Lounette moved to Florida. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and watching his animals from the back porch.
Besides his parents, Charles was preceded in death by two brothers: Henry and John Haste; and three sisters: Nellie Vincent, Mary Fleetwood, and Helen Ganley.
He is survived by his loving wife of their home: Lounette; two step-daughters: Lori (Jensen) Rolfe and her husband, Shon, of Prosper, Texas, and Pam (Jensen) Carlson and her husband, Sam, of Buffalo, Iowa; one sister: Nelda Hastings of Camden, North Carolina; five step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; his dog, Cindy, whom he loved very much; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation: Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Graveside Funeral Service: Thursday, February 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mountain Grove.
