Charles Chuck Dewayne Sellars, son of the late Elza and Tressie (McGinnis) Sellars, was born on January 27, 1943 at their home south of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on April 12, 2015 in Gulfport, Mississippi after a year-long battle with cancer. He was 72 years, 2 months, and 16 days of age.
Chuck was the third child of Elza and Tressie. In 1953, he moved with his family to Ontario, California. He attended school in Ontario until he joined the United States Navy on the Kiddie Cruise. He was united in marriage to Phyllis Johnson on November 16, 1963, and was honorably discharged from the Navy in January of 1964. Two children were born to Chuck and Phyllis: Joseph and Terra.
While living in California, Chuck worked for Freightliner as a line supervisor. In 1976, they moved to Missouri and Chuck drove a truck for nearly 40 years. He later married Marilyn Fore.
Chuck was always a mechanic, and he enjoyed working on different motors and machinery. He was excellent at painting vehicles, from cars to semi-trucks and anything in between. Chuck also enjoyed planting and growing different plants and vegetables. He had a knack for making anything he touched grow.
Chuck was a kindhearted and considerate gentleman, as well as a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather.
Besides his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his daughter: Terra Sellars; and by his only grandson: Jonathan Sellars.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Sellars, of the home; one son: Joseph Sellars and his wife, Katie, of Norwood, Missouri; three brothers: Joe Sellars and his wife, Norma, of Norwood, Missouri, Ben Sellars and his wife, Ronda, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Steve Williams and his wife, Bonnie, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; four sisters: Glenna Rose of Ontario, California, Norma Jarrett and her husband, Bill, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Julie Brown and her husband, Tommy, of Cabool, Missouri, and Audrey Bell Keen of Mesa, Arizona; two granddaughters: Samantha Sellars and Nichole Sellars; several nieces and nephews, as well as other friends and neighbors who will miss him.
Visitation: Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Norwood First Baptist Church.
Funeral Services: Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Norwood First Baptist Church.
Burial: Rock Chapel Cemetery
