Chalmer Hicks

June 17, 1955 — March 27, 2008

Chalmer Dean Hicks, son of the late Lloyd Edward and Dorothy (Parker) Hicks, was born on June 17, 1955 on Wright County, Missouri and departed this life on March 27, 2008 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, following a long illness, at 52 years of age.
Chalmer grew up in the Mtn. Grove area and attended Mtn. Grove School. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing. He was employed as a welder for several years.
Chalmer looked forward to spending time with his family and friends. He especially loved his nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother: Leon Richard Creed; one sister: Nancy Ruth Hicks; and by a son: Isam Hicks in 1997.
He is survived by two sons: Jason Caston of Mtn. Grove, Missouri and Eli Stigall of Mansfield, Missouri; one daughter: Bambi Lynn Luther of Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers: James Ellis Creed of Warsaw, Missouri and Lloyd Edwards Hicks, Jr. of Kansas City, Missouri; two sisters: Donna Wright of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Kay Sanders of Kansas City, Missouri; two granddaughters: Cynthia Luther and Gracie May Caston; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him very much.
Graveside services for Chalmer Hicks were held, Tuesday, April 1, 10:00 AM in the New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Gene Edwards officiating and Mr. Hicks’ nephews: JJ Doop and Shane Coffman with comments and memories. Song selections were “One Day At A time,” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Pallbearers were Shane Coffman, Darrell Newberry, Johnnie Bradshaw, Ronnie Davault, JJ Doop, and Jason Caston. Burial was in the New Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
